Published on 01 Apr 07 by "AUSTRALIAN TAX FORUM" JOURNAL ARTICLE
This volume is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and colleague Richard Musgrave who died at the age of 96 on January 15, 2007. He was without question the greatest public finance economist of his generation – among a fine group of scholars and policy advisers that included Richard Goode, Joseph Pechman, Carl Shoup and William Vickrey. Over a 33-year period he was a professor of economics successively at the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University, Princeton University and Harvard University. After retiring from Harvard, he ended his career at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
