Des Maloney
Des is the Special Tax Adviser at the Australian Taxation Office. Previously, he was Deputy Chief Tax Counsel for the ATO, a role he held from 1994 until 2011. His work includes advising on major public and private rulings and strategic litigation. Des has been Chair of the Public Rulings Panel and the General Anti Avoidance Rules Panel and currently chairs the International Steering Committee as well as the NTLG International Sub-committee.

Greg MAY
Greg is the Chairman of the Adelaide and Darwin partnership of Minter Ellison. He practises in the areas of superannuation, taxation, trusts and commercial law, and advises generally on a wide range of commercial matters including company and business sales and acquisitions and appropriate business structures. Greg has acted for a wide variety of superannuation funds and also has extensive taxation and stamp duty expertise in all areas of commercial transactions.Current at 1 October 2004
Dr Alice McCleary CTA-Life
Alice is a Director of several listed and unlisted companies. Alice is a Chartered Accountant with wide experience in leadership, corporate governance, professional practice and policy development. Alice has been a corporate tax partner in Coopers & Lybrand, was intimately involved with the Ralph Review of Business Taxation in the late 1990s, and in 2001 was President of The Tax Institute – the first woman to hold that position in the Institute’s history. She has also represented Australia on the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, which sets the ethical standards for the world’s 2.5 million accountants. Alice is the inaugural Chair of both The Tax Institute’s Disciplinary Committee and Professional Standards Committee, and developed the procedures and by-laws for the Institute becoming a recognised tax agent association under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009.

Terry Murphy QC, CTA
Terry has focused on advising and appearing for taxpayer and revenue authorities in the Federal Court and High Court, and in alternative dispute resolution for over 30 years. He was appointed to be the Special Counsel to the Australian Taxation Office from 2008 to 2010 and was a Past President of the Tax Bar Association. Terry is a member of Taxation Subcommittee of the Law Council, Chair of the Tax Group Advisory Board, and a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne Law School. - Current at 30 August 2021
