ATO Compliance Activity 2004/2005
Published on 21 Sep 04 by SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DIVISION, THE TAX INSTITUTE
The ATO has identified a number of transactions and categories of taxpayers that can expect to receive extra attention from the ATO in 2004/05. For example, taxpayers claiming high work related expenditure; selling listed company shares; claiming rental property deductions, or operating in certain industries can expect to be the focus of audit activity in 2004/05. The ATO also plans to scrutinise the GST aspect of certain transactions and to increase the number of FBT audits.
