Helen is one of the most experienced taxation silks in Australia, practising in both an advisory and a disputes to administration of taxation legislation, state duties, taxation of tribunals at all levels, representing both taxpayers and revenue brought by the Commissioner under the promoter penalties. Catherine Pierce practises principally in tax law. She has appeared for taxpayers and for the Commissioner in the High Court and Federal Court. Catherine advises and acts in disputes involving anti-avoidance rules, transfer pricing, thin capitalisation, double tax treaties, capital gains tax, losses and GST. Catherine is currently serving as President of the Tax Bar Association. Before joining the Bar, Catherine was employed as a solicitor in Hong Kong and has also worked as an interpreter in French and Mandarin Chinese. - Current at 01 May 2026
