Jeremy Geale CTA
Jeremy Geale, CTA, is a Tax Partner at MinterEllison, having previously been a Deputy Commissioner with the ATO responsible for the ATO's Review and Dispute Resolution area, covering all objections and litigation.  Jeremy has more than 25 years tax and superannuation experience, most of which has been spent assisting taxpayers and the ATO with ATO engagement and to resolve complex tax disputes from audit through to litigation.  He is uniquely placed to assist taxpayers, having not only worked for the ATO in senior roles, but was previously a barrister, representing clients in numerous tax cases before the courts.  He now regularly acts for a broad range of taxpayers from multinationals, large Australia corporates and funds and numerous family offices and high net worth individuals, assisting them with engagement with the ATO, management of tax risk and governance, audit assistance and dispute resolution. - Current at 29 May 2026

Megan McBain
Megan is a Manager within the Investment team at First State Super providing tax advice on new and existing investments both domestically and offshore. Prior to joining First State Super, Megan was at KPMG for over 13 years within Corporate Tax advising a wide range of clients in the financial services sector, including superannuation funds, managed funds and custodians. - Current at 19 September 2016
Barbara Phair
Barbara Phair, CTA, is a Partner at Ashurst, based in Sydney. Barbara has advised on indirect taxes for over 20 years, including stamp duty, payroll tax, land tax and GST. Barbara is a member of The Tax Institute’s Liaison Committee with the New South Wales Office of State Revenue and a member of the GST Working Group and State Taxes Working Group of the Property Council. Ellen Thomas ATI
Ellen is a tax lawyer based in Sydney. She focuses on the tax aspects of M&A and finance transactions, as well as tax audits and dispute resolution. She advises on a range of domestic and international M&A transactions, corporate restructures, post-acquisition integrations, international tax planning, distressed debt transactions, infrastructure investments and financial arrangements.
